University of Canberra Honors Saudi Ambassador to Australia

Saudi Ambassador to Australia Nabil Al Saleh has commended the scientific and cultural cooperation between Saudi universities and Australian specialized universities and institutes, highlighting the extension of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program for another five years.
This came during a dinner banquet held yesterday evening by Dr. Stephen Parker, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra in honor of Ambassador Al Saleh, and which was attended by the Deputy Ambassador Mr Faisal Hifzi , the Culture Attaché Dr Abdulaziz Bin Taleb and the Embassy staff and a number of Saudi scholarship students.
For his part, Dr. Parker praised the Saudi students who receive their education at Canberra university as distinguished.
He also noted their scientific superiority and their eagerness to provide a bright and honorable picture of the cultural and developmental shift taking place in the Kingdom.

The Saudi ambassador to Australia Nabil bin Mohammed Al Saleh and the NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell co-opened today the 3^rd Peace & Harmony Interfaith International Conference  , held by Al-Faisal Islamic College and the Australian Islamic Cultural Centre in Sydney.
A number of senior dignitaries from the government, religious and social circles, led by the Mufti of Australia Dr. Ibrahim Abu-Mohammed, Chairman of Al-Faisal Islamic College Sheikh Shafiq Abddullah Khan and the leader of the parliament minority in the State John Robertson also attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Al Saleh highlighted the efforts being exerted by the Kingdom, encouraging constructive dialogue and cultural contacts among the followers of religions in all societies. He also dealt with the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of terror combating and religious extremism in all its forms, particularly the role of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to enhance dialogue among followers of religions and cultures, citing his initiative to establish King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for dialogue among followers of religions and cultures in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
The ambassador wished the conference every success.
For his part, the NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell emphasized the role of dialogue and harmony among religions in the formation of the multi-civilization Australian society, praising the achievements reached by the State of Sidney in the field of co-existence initiatives.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal was received by French President Francois Hollande in Paris today. Their meeting focusing largely on the situation in Egypt.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Minister stressed the importance of maintaining security and stability in Egypt, while implementing the road map to new elections laid out by the current government. He insisted that any demonstrations must be nonviolent and expressed disappointment that many countries are ignoring the actions of terrorists in Egypt.
Prince Saud denied that a coup had taken place in Egypt. “What is happening in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt today reflects the will on 30 June of thirty million Egyptians who expressed their desires to conduct early presidential elections as an inevitable result of the deterioration of economic, political and social conditions, which led to the meeting of all political and social leaders and forces to announce a new road map leading Egypt to safety after the former presidency refused to respond to the wishes of millions of Egyptian people.” He insisted, “The uprising of thirty million Egyptians cannot in any way be described as a military coup, as military coups take place under the cover of darkness. In addition, a civilian presidency took power in Egypt in line with the Egyptian constitution.”

Prince Saud expressed the Kingdom’s regret over what is currently happening in Egypt, noting the “war in the streets, the destruction of public and private property, terrorization of citizens, loss of innocent lives, [and] burning of whole governorates of Egypt by a movement that refuses to respond to the popular Egyptian will, as well as the rejection of all reconciliation initiatives.”

The Saudi Foreign Minister denounced those in the international community who have ignored the violence carried out by the Egyptian government’s opponents. “We see, unfortunately, today international positions which have taken a strange course to ignore these irrefutable facts and focus on general principles, as if they want to cover up [the crimes of the opponents], the burning of Egypt, and killing of its safe people, and even to encourage these parties to persist in such practices.” He contrasted the concern for criminals in Egypt to the lack of attention given to innocents in Syria. “Where is the concern for human rights and the sanctity of blood and carnage that takes place every day in Syria, which led to the killing of more than 100,000 Syrians and the destruction of the whole of Syria without hearing whispering from the international community, which adheres to human rights as required by its interests and whims?” he asked.

Prince Saud concluded by reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to Egypt’s security and stability. “I assure everyone that the leadership, the government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have stood and will always stand with Egypt and that the Arab states will never accept manipulation of their fates or tampering with their security and stability by the international community,” he said. “Concerning those who announced stopping their assistance to Egypt or threatening to stop them, the Arab and Islamic nation is rich with its people and capabilities and will provide a helping hand to Egypt. Our fate is one and our goal is one. As you enjoy security, calm and stability, do not consider them as too much for us.”

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz issued a statement today on the current events in Egypt. King Abdullah said: “We have followed with deep sorrow the events taking place in our second homeland, the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt; events which only please enemies of Egypt’s stability and security and its people, but at the same time pain all those who love Egypt and care for its stability and unity which are, today, targets for all evil wishers. This attempt to unsettle Egypt’s unity and stability — carried out by the ignorant, the inadvertent, or the mindful of the enemies’ design —  will, God willing, be fruitless.”
The King urged “the people of Egypt, Arab and Muslim nations, the honorable Ulema [religious scholars], intellectuals, writers, and all sensible people to stand united with one heart in facing attempts to destabilize a country which historically has always been at the forefront of Arab and Muslim nations; honorable people should not maintain silence on and be heedless of what is going on.”
King Abdullah added that “the people and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stood and still stand today with our brothers in Egypt against terrorism, extremism and sedition, and against whoever is trying to interfere in Egypt’s internal affairs and in its determination, power and legitimate right to deter every spoiler or whoever misleads the people of Egypt.  Let it be known to those who interfered in Egypt’s internal affairs that they themselves are fanning the fire of sedition and are promoting the terrorism which they call for fighting.  I hope they will come to their senses before it is too late; for the Egypt of Islam, Arabism, and honorable history will not be altered by what some may say or what positions others may take. Egypt will be able, with the grace and might of God, to pass into the land of safety; and then those will realize the wrong they committed when it is too late to show regret.”

His Excellency Mr Nabil Mohammed A. AL SALEH, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was guest of honour at the Victorian Launch of the Australia Saudi Business Council in Melbourne .
Council Chairman, Mr Tom Harley said: “It’s great that the formation of the Council coincides with the appointment of His Excellency Mr Nabil Saleh. We see a great future working together to deepen the commercial and cultural relations between both countries,” Mr Harley said.
The Hon. Gordon Rich-Phillips MLC Minister for Technology and Minister responsible for Aviation attended the launch along with a large number of senior business representatives.
“Saudi is Australia’s second largest market in the Middle East and is a substantial market for passenger vehicles, agricultural products including live animals, dairy products, vehicle parts and accessories, as well as a growing market for fresh vegetables, refined metals and information communications technology products. There is also scope for the expansion of financial services trade between the two countries
“A large number of Saudi students are choosing to study in Australia, mostly under the King Abdullah Scholarship Program and the launch also generated a lot of interest among education providers. The King Abdullah Scholarship is on its own transforming the relationship between our two countries,” Mr Harley said.

The Australia Saudi Business Council Inc. was established to develop and promote business and commercial links between Australia and Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd received the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Australia Nabil bin Mohammed Al Saleh at the Lodge in Canberra, Australia. During the meeting, they exchanged cordial talks and discussed boosting the growing relations between the two countries. The Ambassador also passed on the well wishes and greetings from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin AbdulAziz, the Crown Prince, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Salman Bin AbdulAziz, the Second Deputy Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al Faisal to the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and the people of Australia.

Newly-appointed ambassador Nabeel bin Mohammed Al Saleh presented his credentials as Saudi ambassador-designate to Australia to the Governor-General of Australia Her Excellency the Honourable Quentin Bryce during a reception at the headquarters of the Governor-General in the Australian capital of Canberra.
During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, to the Governor-General of Australia, the leadership and government of the people of the friendly country of Australia.
The ambassador confirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance friendly relations with Australia.
For its part, the Governor-General expressed welcome of the ambassador, wishing him every success.

Ambassador visits Saudi Patients in Sydney Hospitals

His Excellency Saudi Ambassador to Australia Nabil Al Saleh paid visits to a number of Saudi patients who are being treated in hospitals in Sydney.He listened to the patients about their health conditions and needs and also reassured them about the ongoing support they will receive from the embassy.

Ambassador Al Saleh welcomes GCC Visit

The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Australia Nabil bin Mohammed Al Saleh welcomed the visit of Dr Abdel Aziz Aluwaisheg, Assistant Secretary General for Negotiations and Strategic Dialogue, of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to Australia. The visit was made to assess areas of the greatest potential for cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Australia.
Ambassador Al Saleh stressed the importance of strengthening dialogue between the GCC and Australia on strategic, economic, trade, political and cultural relations.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade DFAT hosted a welcome dinner for Dr Abdel Aziz Aluwaisheg in Canberra, in the presence of Ambassador Al saleh, GCC Ambassadors in Australia and a number of senior DFAT officials.
During the meeting the sides discussed prospects for further development of bilateral relations between Australia and GCC, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
The senior DFAT official highlighted the importance of a free trade agreement (FTA) with the (GCC) by saying it would strengthen and enhance the economic and trade relationship between the two sides. The DFAT official also praised the active role of the GCC in the promotion of regional and global stability.

Saudi Ambassador to Australia Visits The Cultural Attache’s Office in Canberra

The Ambassador of the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques to Australia, H.E Mr Nabil Al Saleh, has paid a visit to the Saudi Cultural Attaché Office in Canberra.At the office, he was received by the Cultural Attaché to Australia Dr. Abdulaziz BinTaleb, and the attaché Directors and Staff.

The Ambassador toured all sections of the Attaché Offices and was briefed on the various services offered to students on scholarship.The Ambassador appreciated the services provided by the office to Saudi students and thanked the Cultural Attaché for the great care they provide to the education of Saudi students in Australia.The Ambassador expressed his admiration of the building features and the equipment available to providing the highest level of services to the students.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency the Ambassador stated that his visit to the cultural attaché was a reflection of the commitment and care of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, to the education of all saudi students .

The Ambassador stressed that the work and commitment of all the members of the Embassy and the cultural attaché in Australia was highly valued and appreciated. Their work is necessary to ensure that full support is provided to both male and female Saudi students to help them succeed in all fields.
